Bio-Safety Cabinet Testing
Biological Safety Cabinets provide both product and personnel protection when properly maintained and operated. One of the most important factors contributing to a properly maintained cabinet is an annual certification procedure. Cabinet certification is a series of performance tests on the biological safety cabinet to confirm that it will provide the user and experiment the protection for which it was intended. To ensure proper function each cabinet must be certified when initially installed or moved and annually thereafter. The recognized standard for testing and certifying Biological Safety Cabinets is the National Sanitation Foundation's Standard 49 (NSF-49), if the cabinet is listed or the cabinet manufactures requirements if it is not.
